Where does this hiring data come from?

Accepted Answer

From live job postings we ingest directly from company applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters) and public job feeds. Only openings still accepting applications are counted — postings expire out of the map automatically, so a country's number reflects what is genuinely open today.

How often is the map updated?

The counts refresh hourly. New postings enter the feed as our ingestion pipeline runs, and expired ones drop out, so the map tracks real market movement rather than a static snapshot.

Why are some countries empty?

Accepted Answer

An empty tile means we have no live openings for that country in the feed right now — not that nobody is hiring there. Our coverage is strongest where companies publish to public ATS boards. We show the gaps honestly instead of hiding them.

Question 4

Why is there no city-level or job-title breakdown?

Accepted Answer

Because we will not fake precision. Postings report location as free text ("Remote — EU", "Paris", "San Francisco, CA"), which is reliable enough to resolve a country but not a city. Role-level filtering needs a job taxonomy we are still building. Country and remote status are what the data genuinely supports today.

How does this help my job search?

Accepted Answer

It tells you where to aim. If your target market has few live openings but a neighbouring one has many — or if the remote share is high enough that location matters less than you thought — that changes which roles you apply to.
