The best Huntr alternative for most people is Teal if you want a free tracker without a 100-job cap, or Simplify if you want free autofill. Careerflow costs less per month and adds LinkedIn work. Jobscan adds an ATS match score. FutuRole adds what trackers leave out: the people at the company to write to, and a day-3 follow-up.

Prices checked on each vendor's own site on October 27, 2026; every price links to the page we read. Disclosure: FutuRole publishes this page and is one of the six tools. Teal's prices are the ones its own pricing page showed in search results that day (the page itself did not load for us), so confirm them on tealhq.com before you buy.

What Huntr offers today

Huntr's pricing page lists two plans:

  • Free: track up to 100 jobs, 2 job-tailored resumes, 2 application packets, basic resume matching and scoring, unlimited base resumes, PDF export, contact management and unlimited application autofills.
  • Pro: $40/month, $90 every 3 months ($30/month) or $160 every 6 months ($26.66/month). Pro adds the resume builder and cover letters, unlimited tailored resumes and AI cover letters, advanced matching, and unlimited job tracking.

The Huntr homepage also describes a Chrome extension that saves jobs "from thousands of sites, in one click", a contact tracker for recruiter and hiring manager details, and an interview tracker. It does not describe auto-apply or drafting messages to contacts.

People usually leave Huntr for one of three reasons: the 100-job free cap, the $40 monthly price, or a search that is organized but still gets no replies.

1. Teal: the closest swap

Teal is a tracker plus a resume workspace. Teal's own pages describe a free plan with no time limit and unlimited resumes and job tracking, with limited AI credits. Teal+ costs $13 per week, $29 per 30 days or $79 per 90 days, according to Teal's pricing page.

  • Better than Huntr for: a free tracker without a job cap; a cheaper paid tier.
  • Worse for: no autofill focus; Huntr's free plan includes autofill.

Our FutuRole vs Teal comparison covers Teal in more depth.

2. Simplify: best free autofill and tracker

Simplify Copilot autofills applications on "100,000+ company career sites" and logs each one in your tracker, free. The Resume Builder and Gmail integration are also free. Simplify+ adds AI tailoring, cover letters and Autopilot, which submits for you with no review step.

  • Better than Huntr for: free autofill on more sites and a free tracker.
  • Worse for: contact management; Simplify centers on applications, not people.

3. Careerflow: cheaper paid tier, LinkedIn tools

Careerflow combines a job tracker, autofill, a LinkedIn optimizer, a networking tracker and a recruiter and hiring manager search. Free includes one AI resume, and the pricing page notes the free tracker and autofill "will be limited soon". Premium is $8.99/week, $23.99/month, $54.99 per quarter or $172.99 per year. Premium Plus ($44.99/month) adds AI mock interviews.

  • Better than Huntr for: LinkedIn work and a lower monthly price.
  • Worse for: a free tier that may shrink.

4. FutuRole: when the tracker fills up but nobody replies

A tracker shows you that 60 applications are sitting in "Applied". It cannot move them. FutuRole works on the step after you apply. For each job it gives a free fit check, a CV and cover letter written for that job, three real people at the company (a recruiter or the likely hiring manager, for example) each with a short note you edit and send, and a reminder to follow up on day 3.

Its application tracker, fit checks and CV editing stay free after the first 2 complete applications. Premium ($22/month, about 13 complete applications) adds job discovery, auto-apply on Greenhouse and Workable with your approval, and spoken interview practice.

  • Better than Huntr for: reaching people and following up.
  • Worse for: tracker depth; Huntr has document uploads, job insights and search metrics that FutuRole does not focus on.

5. Jobscan: a match score per job

Jobscan scores how well your resume matches a job description and lists missing keywords. Jobscan's blog lists Premium at about $50 a month or $89.95 per quarter, including a beta Auto Apply that waits for your approval.

  • Better than Huntr for: detailed keyword gaps.
  • Worse for: price, and it is mainly a scanner.

6. LoopCV: if you want automation instead

LoopCV scans job boards daily, applies for you and can email recruiters. It has a free forever plan and paid plans from €9.99/month.

  • Better than Huntr for: hands-off applying.
  • Worse for: control; you trade fit for volume unless you review matches.

When is Huntr still the better pick?

Stay on Huntr if you track fewer than 100 jobs and use its free autofill and contact manager; few free plans give you both. Huntr also stores a lot of detail per job: notes, dates, tasks, salaries and up to 100 document uploads on the free plan. If you pay, the 6-month Pro plan works out to $26.66 a month, below Teal+'s 30-day price.

How we compared

We read each vendor's own pricing page, help center or homepage on October 27, 2026 and listed the figures as shown. We did not test every paid plan and we do not publish ratings we cannot source. FutuRole is our product; its row is limited to features in its code and on its pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Huntr free?

Huntr has a free plan that tracks up to 100 jobs, with 2 job-tailored resumes, contact management and unlimited autofills. Pro costs $40 a month, $90 for 3 months or $160 for 6 months.

What is the best free Huntr alternative?

Teal for unlimited tracking, Simplify for free autofill plus a tracker. FutuRole's tracker is free too, and its first 2 complete applications include the people to write to.

Which job tracker helps you contact hiring managers?

Huntr and Careerflow store contact details, and Careerflow adds a recruiter and hiring manager search. FutuRole finds three people per job and drafts the note. Our guide on how to find the hiring manager covers doing it by hand.

Do I need a job tracker at all?

A spreadsheet works for a small, slow search. Once you apply every week, a tracker with reminders helps you follow up on time, which matters more than the tool you pick. See follow-up timing and templates.

Sort your tracker by date applied, pick the three oldest applications with no reply, and send one short follow-up to a person at each company today.
